Nuclear Debate

by | Jun 28, 2024 | Politics | 0 comments

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says a proposal to build nuclear reactors risks further delay to Australia’s energy transition and warned it would undermine certainty for business and industry.

It follows the Coalition outlining plans to build seven nuclear reactors across five states should it win the next election with the prime minister arguing such a move would put many sectors of the economy at risk.

The Australian Associated Press Reports the Coalition had come under fire for not revealing the cost of the nuclear reactors, while indicating the first power plants would not be built before 2035 to 2037 at the earliest.

Speaking on STA FM this week, New England MP Barnaby Joyce says he doesn’t know when the Coalition will reveal costings but confirmed the leadership group have the details.
