Inverell Shire’s new Children’s Bicycle Safety Park will be officially opened this afternoon.
Council was successful in securing $65K from Transport for NSW to design and construct a bicycle safety course. The course is a 2.5m wide concrete path circuit and is complete with a roundabout, line marking and road signage in order to introduce younger riders to the road rules and bicycle safety for when they begin to ride on the road.
The bicycle safety course is a welcome addition to the excellent facilities already located in the youth precinct on Old Bundarra Rd.
There will be a special opening event commencing at 3:30pm this afternoon with giveaways for children aged 5 – 12 years.
At 4pm the official opening will be conducted by NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Jenny Aitchison and Inverell Mayor, Cr Paul Harmon. Inverell Shire Councillors and other dignitaries will be in attendance.
