Man Refused Bail After Break In At Inverell

A man has fronted Court via video link in Armidale yesterday facing numerous charges following an investigation into a break-in at Inverell last week.

Officers attached to New England Police District received reports a home on Dog Trap Lane was allegedly broken into with twelve firearms reported stolen from the home.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 30-year-old MATTHEW CHARLES BURNARD at a business in Uralla, and simultaneously executed a search warrant at a home on Depot Road, Uralla where its alleged police located and seized eight firearms, ammunition, firearm parts, firearm cleaning kits, and documentation.

Burnard is charged with Enter dwelling with intent (steal), 12 counts of Steal firearm or imitation firearm, Acquire prohibited firearm-subject prohibition order, 12 counts of acquire firearm – subject to prohibition order, Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, and acquire ammunition subject to prohibition order.

He has been again refused bail and will appear in Armidale Local court via video link on the 17th July
