New England MP Barnaby Joyce expects the electorate to expand when the Australian Electoral Commission finalises the new electoral boundaries.

Electoral Commissioner, Tom Rogers, says the New South Wales redistribution was required to enable a decrease from 47 to 46 electoral divisions with the boundaries of New South Wales divisions being amended to accommodate the decrease.

Speaking on STA FM on Wednesday morning, Mr Joyce expects the boundaries to include areas in the north including Yetman, Northstar, Croppa Creek and Warialda to Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter.

Mr Joyce expects the AEC to confirm the boundary changes next month and is looking forward to serving the bigger area.
