Inverell Shire Mayor Walks for Mental Health

by | Jul 10, 2024 | Community | 0 comments

Inverell Shire Mayor Paul Harmon is literally stepping up to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing.

Mayor Harmon has joined a campaign called ‘Everything Is Possible’ and is currently in training for an event on July 20th where he and organiser Chris Brassel will endeavour to walk 100km in 24 hours on the Gold Coast.

Cr Harmon says he was invited by Ms Brassel to take on the challenge last year and has been in training over the past few months, walking around 8 to 10 k’s each morning to prepare for the July event.

He encourages any member of the community, if they see him, to join him on his morning walks adding he’s quite prepared to undertake afternoon walks as well.

Mayor Harmon also encouraged people to wear bright colored clothing instead of dark clothing which he says lifts a person’s attitude and stimulation.

His morning walks usually kicks off in Byron St at around 5am and is about 12km in length.
