The Inverell Highlanders have fallen out of the top 4 on the Central North Rugby Competition ladder after going down to the Quirindi Lions 45-29 at Rugby Park on Saturday.
In what was a must win game, the Highlanders faltered in defence and had opportunities to score through the 2nd half but couldn’t penetrate the Quirindi backline.
The prospects of jumping back into the four will be made harder this weekend when they travel to Tamworth to tackle rivals Pirates.
