Bird Flu Action

by | Jun 24, 2024 | Agriculture | 0 comments

NSW Minister for Agriculture Tara Moriarty has advised egg consumers not to be concerned about eggs and poultry products from the supermarkets, following the detection of avian influenza on a poultry egg farm in the Hawkesbury district last week.

Minister Moriarty says they’ve acted swiftly to contain the disease and are rolling out a biosecurity incident plan, developed in line with the national approach for avian influenza.

She says this detection does not pose a risk to consumer health and the products are safe to consume adding. as always, people should handle and cook using the standard procedures.

The government says they’re acting on this bird flu outbreak and will do everything to work through this challenging time for the egg and chicken meat industry.
